People are human; they make mistakes.
No matter how well we think things through; there is the law of unintended consequences.
The way to avoid unintended consequences is to fully discuss ideas with others in matters of great importance. Thus, democracy is better than even a benevolent dictatorship.
But, we must participate and we need to use rational thought and not emotion to make informed decisions!
In the Final Analysis: there are but two choices - conflict or consensus.
We should prefer consensus. A people divided against themselves cannot long stand. We need to find common ground to continue to prosper.
