Focus questions
I think we need to reach consensus in order to move forward in the political system. In order to reach consensus, we need to establish some basic value criteria.
Justice demands that we treat everyone fairly. We are equal under the law.
What do you think about these questions?
We have two big problems to solve in this country: high unemployment and a high federal deficit.
We have tools to address the unemployment problem: Monster.com, Dice.com and The Virginia Employment Commission to name a few. But, we still have the problem.
First, we need to own this problem. It is not just a problem for the people who need a job; it is a problem for everyone because we all lose when others are not being productive and making a contribution to the economy.
What are we going to do to solve this problem?
As an engineer, I clearly see that a problem exist and that a solution can be designed. In a Democracy, I need to get agreement from the people to implement the solution.
We need to set as a national priority the objective of maintaining Full Employment.
I argue that the Congress has the duty, the power and the responsibility to solve the twin problems of high unemployment and a high federal deficit.
What do you propose to solve these problems?
